Achi is a very nice spot to get the evening going. It's a mid sized open room with large tables so it's perfect for a gathering with a couple of friends. The food choices aren't that special, it's what you would expect of a standard Chinese restaurant, but the execution is way better than average. I have been living in Zurich for 15 Years + and Achi remained a staple when it comes to evening starters before heading to the infamous Longstreet.

First things first: The memory that stuck the most was how nice and welcoming the staff were. They made us feel at home immediately. Just by the way they interacted with the guests was an amazing experience in itself.
The Food: We ordered a "DownunderMeatMix" so we could try everything they had to offer and also try some things we never had before. We got a big plate with a little bit of everything. It was meatwonderland with some veggies, some homemade potatoes and everything was delicious. Even the crocodile 🐊 that I was hesitant to try at first.
Location: I'd recommend the place to a group of people that are looking for a fun night out, with good food, good drinks, an easy going vibe and great people. The spot is in the heart of Zurich, (Bellevue) and couldn't not be easier to find. It's right by the train station Stadelhofen.
It has a medium - sized open space indoors and if the weather plays along there is also seats outside. I'm sure that everyone who makes it there will have a wonderful time.

Great Great place to meet new people. "Stubä" means living room in Switzerland and that is exactly the vibe this place creates. It's small and intimate and you are close to people you don't know (yet) by design. If you are looking for a night life location with good vibes, good drinks and even better people, it's definitely a spot you should check out and take some energies and memories back to your own living room.

What can I say...Gonzo Oh Gonzo! It might be a Umchreis favourite of all time. The underground Vibe is unique. The music is always well picked in no matter the genre. I personally love the Wednesday the most. One, because of the style of music the Trapped party got it's name for a reason and two, because it's not the typical night to go out to a club and therefore you don't meet the typical kind of people and the vibe is just different from a weekends night out. Also it's right next to the one of the coolest bars in Zurich (Fat Tony) which we will tell you about in another review.
All that's left to say is: If you enjoy underground night clubs that are a bit dark and dirty to dance the night away with some friends and some drinks, than you can't go wrong with that location right in the middle of the notorious Longstreet in Zürich Downtown.

Gerolds Sommer-Garten (Summertime Review)
Let's face it... We don't have a lot of sunny days here in Zurich, that's just a fact. But as always in life, we tend to appreciate things more if they come in small numbers. So on those rare days, there aren't many places that are better suited to enjoy them than Gerolds Garten in Zurich's Circle 5.
It's a big, wide-open place with small bungalows and tents everywhere to sit and enjoy great drinks and seasonal foods. The place is always packed with people but the vibe is still chill and relaxed. The spot is called garden for a reason, it's green everywhere, full of flowers, trees, and plants hanging from the walls. You might as well think of it as an inner-city Garden Eden 🙂
Also in my experience, it's one of the better places to get to know new people in Zurich outside of party locations. The open space makes it easy to sit down close to a group and start engaging from a bit of a distance and feel each other out and maybe join the group eventually to have another round of drinks. You can meet people from everywhere in the world there so it's a great spot for locals as well as people that are new in the city.
So to conclude: Gerolds Garten is without a doubt one of the best spots to visit in Zurich. Whether you want to start the evening there and move to a nightclub later or if you wanna stay there into the night...You will have a great time in this wonderful location in the heart of Zurich.
PS: Talking of clubs... One of the most notorious dance clubs in Zurich is right around the corner. We will review the club called HIVE sometime in the future. But I can already tell you as much: If you don't hate electronic music you definitely wanna go there sometime 🙂

There are Streets...There are long Streets... And then there is Longstreet. Let's talk about it.
So first off: I have to confess something: I might be a little biassed on this one because so many personal memories are connected to this place that there is no way this review will be objective. But I'll try my best.
Bar Longstreet is a bar right in the middle of the notorious Longstreet in Zurich's Circle 4. And not only is it named after the street, it also represents a lot of the things the street is known for. Nightlife, people meeting new people in the streets, in bars and clubs where you enjoy more than one drink, and the night doesn't end until dawn and beyond.
The club itself is a medium-sized 2-floor space with a small bar and a lounge on the upper floor and a bigger bar downstairs. The dance floors are small and intimate which allows for getting closer, something I personally like a lot. The music style is mostly urban and so is the crowd. But the club doesn't really end with the building... it extends outside.
Right in front of the club is an open space where you can sit earlier in the evening and have a drink. But as soon as it gets dark, these tables get removed. Now there's room for what's just as much Bar Longstreet as the building itself. People who are about to go inside mix with people that just stepped out to talk to someone they met inside. Random people from the street just wandering by, and others sitting under the big tree that's surrounded by benches. Others stand by the water fountain, which might be helpful after drink number 4. Stories get told and forgotten. Numbers shared, called or never used. One thing is for sure something is always going on and you might want to be a part of it.
Of course, I could go on and on about this place, but words can only get you so far... You have to experience it to really know it. So to conclude and make a long story less long (no pun intended): I love the place. It has a unique vibe and if you happen to find yourself on the most notorious street in Zurich there is no way around it. Go check for yourself and I might see you there.

This is a BIG One. There aren't many places in this city I invited more people to than to this one. Allianz Cinema is a gem for many reasons.
The Ambient: Watching a movie is nice. Watching a movie in a cinema is better. But watching a movie outdoors under a sky full of stars, with some food, good drinks and great company is the best. And that's exactly what Allianz Cinema offers.
The Movies: The outdoor event runs about a months and they offer a wide range of movies so everyone will find something that fits their taste for sure.
The Staff: The staff is the best. Friendly, helpful and well organised. That can be said about the whole event in general and the concept gets fine tuned every year so things run even more smoothly every time I visit.
Conclusion: If you are somewhere close to Zurich in the time between July and August... Just go and watch a movie with your friends and loved ones, you will never forget it and come back whenever you have the chance to.
